Top 10 Sephora Mascaras

Since my first layer of Better than Sex, I’ve been searching for Sephora’s best lash-blasting product I tried several mascaras every day and discovered many favorites. After reading Sephora Mascara product reviews, I understood why this option was in the Christmas gift package. Most had over 4 stars and hundreds of “loves” praising them.

As a Gemini, my mascara relationship is fickle. I’ve never discovered a lash product I adore, so I can’t answer when asked. I’ve tried several good formulations, but I generally choose the one with the brightest package or the easiest to grab in the drugstore aisle.

I didn’t think much of Sephora’s Christmas gift of 10 top sellers and new mascaras to me. I put them in my makeup drawer and used the $5 CVS equivalent.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

When I first heard Perversion by Urban Decay, my first thought was, “Eh, it’s OK.” To some extent, it succeeds in extending and maintaining the appearance of natural lashes, but it seems to fall short where drama is concerned. It did apply easily and gave my lashes an appearance that was so subtle that I almost thought I hadn’t used any mascara at all. Avail discount from Sephora employee discount.

It goes well with no makeup at all, or on those days when you simply put on lip balm and Sephora Mascara. It’s true that you can get a little bit more volume with two coats, but I and the Sephora reviewers agree that you can end up with smudges beneath your eyes after a long day of usage.

Benefit Cosmetics Badgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara

It’s amazing how long this stuff lasts, man. I wore it to the gym, which I always avoid for fear of appearing like a raccoon, yet my lashes were still perfect after 45 minutes of sweating. I’ve never seen a brush like this before; it’s more like a set of tiny nubs than a traditional spoolie.

Moreover, after three layers, my lashes appeared as if they were fake. My only complaint with Benefit BADGal is that it seemed to linger forever; I had to use eye makeup remover many times before it finally came off. Easy to put on and comfortable to wear for long periods of time; difficult to remove.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Before using this Sephora Mascara, I always thought it was strange when people compared one thing to sex. It does double duty as a lengthening and thickening mascara, and the curve of the brush gave the illusion of longer lashes in the middle of my eye than the outside corners. I didn’t like that the micro tube was so tiny, but it was nice that you only needed one application of the item to have dramatic effects.

It becomes clumpy since it’s so thick, but my trusty lash brush saved me from looking like a spider. This is the kind of item I would save for a special occasion, like a date, since it makes more of a fashion statement than I would want to make throughout the day.

Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara By Marc Jacobs

I wasn’t completely won over by this Marc Jacobs product like the other 40,000 individuals who reviewed it on Sephora’s website. The worst thing about this mascara is how even one application made my eyelashes seem like little triangles. I doubt I’ll use this recipe again unless I have a spoolie around to tidy up the mess.

It was also quite cumbersome, and the fact that it dried out over the day irritated my eyes. However, it packs a hefty punch in the volume area and may complement a bold eye that calls for equally dramatic lashes.

Lancôme Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Volume Mascara

Fun fact: I used to sneak this material from my mother, but now I know for sure that she was right all along. My eyelashes were skillfully curled and lengthened using only one layer of Sephora Mascara. The formulation is somewhat thick, so there was some clumping, but I discovered that if I applied it very gently, everything went well.

I also wore this to a therapy session in which I shed many tears, and was surprised to discover that it had not budged. The slanted design of the brush is ideal for separating and shaping lower lashes; this product gave me the appearance of having wide-open eyes even after crying for an hour.

Milk Make Up Kush High Volume Mascara

I’ll admit it: Milk’s Kush mascara had me at CBD oil, and it didn’t disappoint. One of the few that volumized, lengthened, didn’t clump, and looked natural. It also applies easily. CBD oil in the Sephora Mascara conditions lashes and keeps it from drying out or crusting. It’s short-lived. Sadly, I had to reapply after a few hours. However, I liked it and will keep it in my beauty bag.

Smash box Super Fan Mascara

Smash box Super Fan gave me the longest lashes ever. One application almost quadrupled their length, making it my favorite daytime mascara.

It lengthens without the va-va-voom I usually save for evenings out. A lash curler (or, in a pinch, blinking against my finger) helped turn my lashes completely upward.

Dior Show Mascara

Dior Show Primer and Sephora Mascara are the best. Since the set costs $59 (they’re $29.50 apiece), I only use it for exceptional occasions. I bought the Sephora Mascara for this experiment and the primer in the Sephora package. It split and curled my lashes wonderfully without any extra tools, and application was quite easy. Dior Show mascara works well without primer. If I could consistently spend this much on my lashes (unfortunately, I can’t but someday!), this would be my choice every time.

Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara

Extreme lash fits. The 4DAmplifier brush, which is two brushes in one, made Hourglass’s mascara plump, lift, and define my lashes. It lasted throughout Friday night.

Sephora Collection Lash Craft Big Volume Mascara

Sephora Mascara Collection’s $14 mascara was the closest to a drugstore product I tested, and I was impressed with its top and bottom lash performance.

It volumized and lengthened without clumping at the roots. Since it’s not waterproof, it didn’t transform my lashes into scary, rigid tubes (which I detest), but it did smudge during the day.
